Planning a successful building or remodeling project involves a balance of vision, organization, and flexibility. At Sand Ridge Home Supply + Design, we are here to assist you in every step of the way. Continue reading for a practical step-by-step guide to set yourself up for a successful project.

  1. Define your goal. Why are you building or remodeling? Do you need more space? Are you trying to improve a space’s functionality? List a few goals for your project. (i.e. more kitchen storage, increase the number of bedrooms, add a bathroom, etc.)

  2. Set a realistic budget. The limits of a project more often than not come down to the dollar amount one is willing to spend. Set a reasonable number that will leave you happy with the outcome without the financial burden.

  3. Get Inspired. Find photos on websites like Houzz, Pinterest, or check out design magazines like Midwest Design, Magnolia, Elle Decor or Country Living. Save the photos of homes and spaces you love. Bring your ideas to our design center, Sand Ridge Home Supply + Design. We will be able to combine your desired elements and turn it into a cohesive, functional, and realistic outcome.

  4. Choose the right team. Do you have a contractor lined up? We know wait times have increased the past few years for contractors in our area. Be sure to get on your favorite contractor’s list so that you can determine an approximate time when  your project can start. Do you need design help? Give Sand Ridge Home Supply + Design a call! We’ve got you covered.

  5. Make Selections Early. There are wait times for items like cabinets, tile, flooring, countertops, etc. It’s important to have your materials in place BEFORE your builder needs them. Plan ahead and get items coming so your builder doesn’t leave the jobsite for another one that has materials ready to go.

  6. Stay Involved and flexible. Be easy to reach by your contractor so the project can keep going. Projects never go 100% as planned, so try to remain flexible and have an open mind.
